Throughout the world, the basic human rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Two-Spirit (LGBTT*) individuals are being violated. These individuals are subject to oppression, torture, humiliation, capital and corporal punishment at the hands of their own governments. This is unacceptable.
We demand that the United Nations resolve to set standards for the international community to protect the fundamental rights, safety, and dignity of LGBTT* persons.
We firmly believe that all individuals have basic rights; it is the responsibility of the UN to hold countries accountable for the treatment of their citizens. In order to promote and encourage respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to sexual orientation or identity and harmonize the actions of nations in the attainment of these common ends, immediate action is necessary.
