Free The DeFranco Five

The Monkees, The Partridge Family, The Brady Kids, The Osmond whatever - blah blah blah! They all pale in comparison to the DeFranco Family! Nino, Marisa, Merlina, Benny, and of course Tony. When their beautiful voices blended in sweet harmony, suddenly the world was a much better place. Children smiled and clapped their hands. Old folks felt young again. Starving people were not hungry any more.

What nefarious conspiracy has prevented the DeFranco oeuvre from making it's way onto the shiny compact disc?

My sources tell me that Susan Dey and Mike Nesmith have compromising photos of the owners of Ktel playing in a Dixieland jazz band. Release of these photos could be highly damaging to the Ktel reputation as purveyors of pure pop goodness. Ms. Dey and Mr. Nesmith have apparently threatened to release these photos to the media in the event that DeFranco Family cd's enter the marketplace. Nesmith and Dey are afraid of the competition and the inevitable diminishment of their artistic credibility in the face of the onslaught of the awesome musical talent of the DeFranco Family. This rumor may not be true, but my sources have not let me down yet. Be that as it may, don't we, the longtime fans of the DeFranco Family, deserve to listen to the Defranco Family at high volume while shuttling our children to soccer practice or the mall? We say: Yes!

So we raise our voices and sing in perfect harmony:

Release the Defranco Family catalog on compact disc! Mastered by Steve Hoffman! With previously unreleased bonus tracks! And a 16 page color booklet with photos from the Michael Ochs Archive and a 1000 word essay by Dave Marsh! And maybe even a special Deluxe Edition with DVD!
