Halt the Confirmation of Samuel Alito

We are calling upon you to do everything possible to stop the confirmation of Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Alito has been a judge on the 3rd U.S. Court of Appeals since 1990, where his positions have been staunchly and radically conservative- for example, supporting restrictions on abortion, such as parental and spousal notification.

Alito has been nicknamed "Scalito" or "Little Scalia" for his similar stances to Justice Antonin Scalia. This is not the moderate Justice that the United States deserves in order to have a balanced Supreme Court. If confirmed by the senate, Alito would replace Sandra Day O'Connor, a moderate voice and a swing vote in a host of cases- abortion, affirmative action, discrimination, death penalty and campaign finance among them.

We call upon the members of the Senate to do whatever necessary to strike down this abominable nomination- and that includes FILIBUSTER, FILIBUSTER, FILIBUSTER.

Please join us in sending President Bush a message- that the Democratic Party of America is alive and vital and will not lie down in the face of yet another political abomination. You are representing untold millions who are tired of the conservative bulldozer now leveling our beloved country.

Please put a resounding halt to the confirmation of Samuel Alito.
