We learned on 24/8/2011 that the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead Council has decided (with no consultation with local businesses) to shut Acre Passage AT BOTH ENDS from 14/9/11 to 27/9/11 (if the works run to schedule).
Obviously, this unfortunately forces us to shut Rachel’s of Windsor. Acre Passage has been dug up 5 times already in the last 18 months; this has always impacted our business but we have been able to stay open.
As our customers know, we price our quality food and drinks so as to give the very best value and just cannot afford to lose two weeks of business with no compensation for staff wages and loss of business. This closure will have a devastating effect on our business.
We believe that especially in such difficult economic times, Local Government should be helping small businesses in any way they can. We want RBWM to consider allowing the roadworks to take place at weekends or outside our shop's opening hours.
