Hydro-One Ontario Overcharge Brockville

As a Resident of Brockville Ontario I was Ignorant to the charges listed on my Hydro-One Bill and so may you.                     

Listed on Page 2 beneath “Balance Forward” you will find “Your Service Type”. You will either be a Low Density, Medium Density or High/Urban Density. The Density of your area will then determine the “Carrier Charge” for which you pay.

Example: A Hydro Bill of approximately $120.00, Medium Density Residence will be charged approximately $10.00 more than a High/Urban Density Residence.

Urban High Density - contains 3,000 or more customers, with at least 60 customers for every kilometer of power line used to supply energy to the zone.

Medium Density - contains 100 or more customers, with at least 15 customers for every kilometer of power line used to supply energy to the zone. 

Low Density - the remaining area not covered by Urban or Medium Density areas.

In Brockville most Residences should be classified as High/Urban Density (the lowest carrier rate). If you are not classified as High/Urban Density and you can count more than 60 residences with a kilometer of your location you to may be improperly classified. Call Hydro-One 1.888.664.9376 and they will free of charge have someone check your area to determine what your Density Charge should be. Unfortunately if you are found to have been overpaying, as did I (approximately $400 over 3 plus years) you will not receive a refund as told by a Hydro-One Supervisor. In my judgment if Hydro-One refuses to refund those they have overcharged this is unlawful and unscrupulous. I have contacted our Provincial Member of Parliament Steve Clark and have received no response concerning this matter.
