If it's life saving, then let's keep it on hand (Dax's Meds)

I am asking for your help on behalf of a four year old and his family. It is NOT ok to put a four year olds life at risk because his medicine is not available or that these parents cannot afford the drug. Daxton Bud Desrochers born September 2nd, 2007 takes a growth hormone drug called “Saizen”. A few times while in the mixing process of this drug, it broke. The last time they had a problem was the Saizen because it expired before it was supposed to. (Saizen goes into an injection machine and the machine won’t let you use the remainder if it’s expired, which this one had not even expired.) When Dax was younger Carrie and Gilles were told by the specialist that Dax would need this drug for at least the first 18 years of his life. At that time they were also told from the endocrinologist that Dax would never have to go without this drug and that if they never had any, or that their insurance would not cover it, that they would have a back up for him. Well FOUR times now, this little man has gone into convulsions and has had to be rushed to the hospital because of his low blood sugar. All this because the pharmacy could not get the meds until the next day and there was no back up at the hospital or the endo clinic, as what had been told to Carrie and Gilles. They almost lost Dax again because this drug was not available. I feel that no one should have to go through what Dax has been going through when the drug is available but not on hand! This young couple is devastated and are crying out for help. They have started a facebook page for their little man and here is some of what they wrote. “When you have to see your son, laying there limp, gurgling his own vomit, and convulsing, you’re left feeling helpless because the people you are supposed to have total faith in, see him as just another case. Well he’s not JUST another case. He’s Daxton Bud Desrochers born September 2nd 2007. He loves cars, going to the park, watching movies, and tree-house. He loves his Daddio, his Mama bear, his baby sister Mazzy, his Nanny, his grandma, his 2 grandpas, his aunty Dawn, his uncle Bud, his only cousin Erin, and everyone who has entered his life. He started pre-school this year, and he loves building with blocks, and making you laugh (he’s a comedian like his uncle Bud). He can sing the whole song to OH Canada, Hey soul sister by Train, he knows his abc’s and can count to 20. He’s a little person who wants to grow old like anyone else, and he deserves that much, because he is our EVERYTHING and he had a rough start (was kept in the hospital for 2 weeks after birth, and had a year of constant doctors appts, needles, tests, etc). I am shocked that the government has not taken a pro-active step to having this drug available and ready, so when this happens, and it will happen again unless someone takes some drastic measure to have this drug available for Dax. I cannot imagine seeing a child go into convulsions and knowing that it could be prevented from a simple drug! This should never happen!! The cost of the drug is so minimal compared to the cost of an ambulance and paramedics having to go revive this little boy at his home. As well, the cost of all his hospital stays. The emotional impact this is having on Dax’s family is astronomical. Not only is this affecting them, it affects our entire family (Carrie is my 2nd cousin) and I am sure it affects the paramedics that have to revive him each time this happens and the staff at the hospital! I am pleading with you to please help this family, so Dax has a chance at growing old like we all want to do! Please contact the family if you can help them out in any way!
