he Rock and Roll Hall of Fame committee has done a fairly good job of selecting worthy and deserving artists into the Hall over the past twenty-one years.
Yet some glaring omissions remain- particularly the absence of these two artists and/or groups: Tommy Roe and Tommy James & the Shondells. Both have been major influences in rock music, whose influence is still being felt today and whose music not only still sells in quantities but is being discovered by new fans each day.
Tommy Roe is widely recognized as the "father of bubblegum pop music"- where would such artists as The Naked Brothers Band, N*SYNC and the like and Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana be if Roe hadn't paved the way with his brand of feelgood music?
Tommy James and the Shondells are also pioneers of feelgood bubblegum music, but they also paved the way for psychedelic rock and even folk/country.
We, the undersigned, implore the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame committee to consider inducting these two deserving artists into the Class of 2009 next March. They deserve it.
