Jacqueline du Prй - A request to RAI Radio 3, Italy

nella prima settimana di Dicembre 2006 Radio 3 ha trasmesso delle registrazioni dal vivo dal festival di Spoleto 1965/1966 della violoncellista Jacqueline du Prй.

Noi tutti, in quanto ammiratori della du Prй siamo estremamente riconoscenti alla RAI per aver proposto questi brani.

Qualche anno fa infatti и stato creato sia un sito internet; www.jacquelinedupre.net sia anche un forum, e per molti suoi fan poter ascoltare delle registrazioni inedito и sempre una gioia e una sorpresa.
Sfortunatamente non tutti hanno potuto ascoltare la trasmissione andata in onda quei giorni, quindi con questa lettera vorremmo avere lopportunitа di chiedere alla RAI di riproporre queste registrazioni dal festival di Spoleto.

Oltretutto la RAI ha anche riproposto dai suoi archivi altri 2 pezzi: il quintetto di F. Schubert in do maggiore D 956 con il Quartetto Guarneri (registrato il 17 luglio 1965), e un brano di J. S. Bach, la sonata in re maggiore BWV 1028 (registrato il 8 luglio 1965) con il pianista Richard Goode.

Queste due registrazioni sono di speciale interesse per noi fans, anche perchи non sono mai stati registrati in studio per scopi commerciali e anche perchи la carriera internazionale di Jacqueline du Prй non и stata lunga, in quanto per uno scherzo del destino и stata stroncata dalla sclerosi multipla a 28 anni, non avendo la possibilitа di registrare tutti i brani da lei suonati.

Infine, come ultima cosa vorremmo richiedere alla RAI:

1) di riproporre per completo le registrazioni di dicembre 2006; esercizi di memoria, prima possibile.

2) di poter riascoltare anche il quintetto di Schubert e la sonata per viola da gamba di Bach sopramenzionati, di ripetere insomma la programmazione giа avvenuta tempo fa.

Questa richiesta e successive risposte e/o proposte verranno messe nel forum del sito www.jacquelinedupre.net cosicchи anche i fans internazionali potranno partecipare a questa petizione.

Spero signor Schiera che Lei possa trovare tempo necessario sia per leggere questa lettera e sia per prendere in considerazione la petizione e spero che i nostri sforzi non siano stati vani

During the first weekend of December 2006, RAI Radio 3 broadcast live recordings of the late cellist Jacqueline du Prй, from the Spoleto Festival 1965-1966. We, the admirers of Jacqueline du Prй, are extremely touched and grateful to the RAI.

A few years ago an internet website, www.jacquelinedupre.net, as well as an online forum, was created in memory of Jacqueline du Prй. And for her many fans, discovering new recordings of the great cellist is always a source of delight. Unfortunately the broadcast on RAI Radio 3 was missed by most of the members and we would like to take this opportunity to make a request to the RAI, for a repeat broadcast of the recordings featuring Jacqueline du Prй at Spoleto.

Although the RAI broadcast most of the archival recordings of du Prй in Spoleto, two recordings - one of Franz Schubert's String Quintet in C major, D 956, with the Guarneri Quartet (recorded 17 July 1965), and that of Johann Sebastian Bach's Sonata in D major, BWV 1028 (recorded 8 July 1966)- were omitted from the broadcasts in December.

Jacqueline du Prй's international career did not last very long because multiple sclerosis prevented her from fulfilling her destiny at the age of 28. Therefore she did not have the chance to record everything she played.
That is why the two recordings mentioned above are of very special interest to us, her fans, as they are also works she never recorded in a studio for commercial release.

So, to sum it up, we would like to make two requests to the RAI:
1) A complete rebroadcast of the recordings first heard in December 2006, as part of the programme 'Esercizi di memoria', in the near future.

2) An inclusion of the complete recording of the Schubert String Quintet and the Bach Gamba Sonata as part of that same repeat broadcast.

Please note that information will be posted on the online Jacqueline du Prй forum, as well as on www.jacquelinedupre.net, so that an international public will be able to participate in the petition.
