Make the World a Safer Place

The horrific events in Mumbai and recent reports about the possibility of a
nuclear or biological attack on the United States are a clarion call for
urgent action.

Regardless of the best intentions of the democratically elected Government
of Pakistan, it has become evident that terrorists trained in Pakistan have
become a clear and present danger not just for neighboring countries but for
the world at large. While there are no easy solutions to this complex
situation, implementing the following two steps will go a long way toward
reducing the risk of another 9/11 perpetrated by terrorists originating from
the global epicenter of terror located in Pakistan.

First, the international community must declare that certain parts of
Pakistan have become ungovernable, and a multinational peacekeeping force
sanctioned by the United Nations will be established to work with the
Pakistani Government to root out terrorist camps in these regions.

Second, the Line of Control in Kashmir must be immediately recognized as the
international border, while allowing for freedom of movement to enable the
people of the region to focus their energies on economic development instead
of endless war.

Destroying the eco-system that nurtures terrorism and enforcing the only
viable solution in Kashmir are critical keys to preventing the recurrence of
events such as 9/11 in the US or Mumbai 11/26 in India.

The time to act is now.
