SAY NO to the the ethnic filing of the Rroms - with or without fingerprints record
The Home Minister of Italy and member of North League, Roberto Maroni, announced recently that he intends recording the fingerprints of Rroms located in Italy. In the most cynical way, he justifies this measure by the need to protect the children!
This proposal has been widely criticized by Italian politicians, cultures personnalities, by civil society, the Council of Europe and the European Commission, but Mr. Maroni continues despite everything to defend his proposal.
Berlusconi government is criticized in Europe and in democratic world for its persecution policies towards the Rroms. In its 27th June editorial, The Independent qualified this behaviour a spasm of cruelty and the party of Mr. Maroni as a notoriously xenophobic one. The editorial ends with this lapidary statement : Every act of popular violence against foreigners, every instance of official discrimination against the Roma, diminishes the country's claim to be regarded as a civilised nation.
We fully agree and say NO to this proposal, which recalls the darkest years of European and world history! Let us not forget that the Rroms were often guinea pigs of repression and extermination policies, as those Rromani children from Czech on which the Nazis tested the "Zyklon B" before generalizing its use it in the gas chambers.

NO alla schedatura etnica dei Rrom, con o senza impronte digitali
Il ministro dell'interno italiano, il leghista Roberto Maroni, ha annunciato recentemente la sua intenzione di procedere con il rilievo delle impronte digitali dei Rrom che si trovano in Italia, compresi i bambini. Con deplorevole cinismo, giustifica questa misura discriminatoria con la necessitа di proteggere i minori!
La proposta и stata stigmatizzata da personalitа italiane della politica e della cultura, dalla societа civile, dall'Unicef, dalla Commissione europea e dal Consiglio di Europa. Maroni, tuttavia, continua a sostenere il suo progetto. Il governo Berlusconi и criticato in Europa e nel mondo democratico per le sue politiche persecutorie nei confronti dei Rrom. L'Indipendent ha definito questo suo atteggiamento, nell'editoriale del 27 giugno, "un raptus di crudeltа" e ha definito il ministro Maroni come un uomo "tristemente noto per il suo atteggiamento xenofobico". L'editoriale si conclude con questa lapidaria considerazione: "Ogni atto di violenza popolare contro gli stranieri, ogni caso di discriminazione ufficiale nei confronti dei Rrom diminuisce la pretesa del Paese di essere considerato una nazione civile".
Siamo completamente d'accordo e diciamo NO a un atteggiamento che richiama gli anni piщ foschi della Storia europea e mondiale. Non dimentichiamo che i Rrom sono stati usati spesso come cavie per le politiche di persecuzione e sterminio, come quei bambini Rrom cecoslovacchi sui quali i nazisti sperimentarono lo Zyklon B, prima di utilizzarlo nelle camere a gas.

Cette proposition a йtй largement critiquйe, par des hommes politiques italiens, des personnalitйs de la culture, de la sociйtй civile, de lUNICEF, de la Commission et du Conseil europйen, mais M. Maroni continue malgrй tout а soutenir son projet. Le gouvernement Berlusconi est critiquй en Europe et dans le monde dйmocratique pour ses politiques persйcutrices а lйgard des Rroms. Le journal Independent a qualifiй son comportement, dans lйditorial du 27 juin, un accиs de cruautй et a dйfini le ministre Maroni comme un homme tristement remarquй par son comportement xйnophobe . Lйditorial se termine avec cette considйration lapidaire : Chaque acte de violence populaire contre les йtrangers, chaque cas de discrimination officielle contre les Rroms diminue la prйtention du pays dкtre considйrй comme une nation civilisйe .
Nous sommes complиtement daccord et disons NON а cette proposition qui renvoie aux annйes les plus sombres de lhistoire europйenne et mondiale ! Noublions pas que les Rroms ont souvent йtй cobayes de politiques de rйpression et dextermination, comme ces enfants rroms de Tchйquie sur qui les nazis ont testй le Zyklon B avant de lutiliser dans les chambres а gaz.
