Be advised that New York Regional Interconnect, Inc., a privately owned and privately funded for-profit company, wants to install 400-kilovolt 1200 megawatt DC power-transmission lines from the town of Marcy, near Utica to the town of New Windsor in Orange County to supply power to New York City and Long Island.
These high voltage power lines will be erected along the railroad track corridor. The high voltage power lines will be mounted on 130 foot high towers and spaced every 800 feet for 200 miles.

They will be erected through our neighborhoods, our villages, our hamlets, our towns and our farmlands. It will not benefit us or central New York in any way.

New York Regional Interconnect, Inc. is trying to push this project through the state and federal governments simultaneously as quickly and as quietly as they can. If they are not stopped at the state level, we will have no say when it is at the federal level. Once approved, New York Regional Interconnect, Inc., will have the power of eminent domain where they will be able to take all property 75 feet on either side of the railroad corridor and then use the corridor for any other purpose they see fit. This is an infringement on our rights as property owners and citizens of the United States of America and only benefits this privately owned company and its investors.

Please take a moment to sign this petition in support of stopping New York Regional Interconnect, Inc. Please also contact your federal, state and local representatives, the NYS Public Service Commission and the Department of Energy to let them know that there is significant public resistance to this project.
