Dear Rajat Sharma,



You have disappointed IndiaTV viewers and people who know you from Aap ki Adalat days in your very poor coverage of Narmada issue.



I sent many mails to you about Narmada issues: the real issues are;



1. Gujarat is taking away almost all the Narmada waters though MP was conned to pay for Narmada Sagar, Omkeshwar, Maheshwar and SSP Dams- the biggest in India. The 1979 NWDT award is the most scandalous in the world.



2. Narmada waters could have been used by M.P. for decades by simple diversion barrages in to Son, Ken, Betwa. Chambal and Tapi upper catchments.



3. UP and MP are again conned to pay for Ken Betwa rivers link that will cost Rs. 20,000 crores at current prices over 10-20 years, Rs.5000 crores estimated at 1993 prices. This will transfer only 0.6 maf water when 2 to 3 maf water each could have been transferred in to Ken and Betwa by building barrages diverting Narmada water releases of Burgi and upstream dams at very little cost.



4. This is gross failure and incompetence of MP leaders to make best use of Narmada waters that were actually corrupted to release thousands of crores of public funds for building dams to serve Gujarat.



5. After sweeping the rehabilitation zone of all trees, killing all wildlife and cover, you want to resettle the tribes there.



YOUR COVERAGE;



A. IndiaTV have shown a small building that has no plastering etc to be a School demolished by NBA. But there are no residential buildings around. Did your channel expected dogs and cats to study in the school?



Rajat build a kutcha house in any village near your studio in Noida, you leave it unguarded, and after few days nothing will be left.



B. Rajat Sharma, NWDT award was notified in 1979. People have not been rehabilitated properly even today.



C. Rajat Sharma, it is scandalous to allege that NBA or displaced people didnt want to be rehabilitated and actually want to be drowned.



D. Rajat Sharma, Pre-fabricated homes could be installed in 30 days and people could have been rehabilitated comfortably and village for village rehabilitation executed smoothly. All you could show after 27 years was a kutcha structure worth Rs.50,000/-, which is said to be a school building demolished by NBA.



F. But the state governments adopted Corrupt Procedures. Since 1.8 million hectare of new irrigation area was to be developed in Gujarat, cant Gujarat spare 8\% of the newly irrigated area for displaced people? M.P. HAS PAID FOR DAMS THAT STORE WATER FOR GUJARAT, SUBMERGENCE OF DAMS IS 8\% OF 1.8 M.H OF NEWLY IRRIGATED AREA.



G. Rajat, from school enrollments, public distribution records, etc. it could be possible to track down the rehabilitation roll out.



H. Rajat, NBA is demanding proper rehabilitation, but obviously they will not like to be thrown out on road and naturally resist forcible eviction. Even in Delhi people living in illegal buildings, in-spite of demolition orders from Supreme Court resists eviction and sealing.



If people of your stature could be so callous, poor Indians may have to suffer for one more generation of poverty hunger corruption and incompetence.
