Petition against George Galloway's sellout of G8 protesters

Dear Mr. Galloway,

We the undersigned call on you to immediately renounce the comments you made when interviewed for Channel 4 News during the G8 protests during July, when you denounced protesters who defended themseleves against police violence as "helping Bush and Blair". The British police are part of the same state apparatus which is committing mass murder in Iraq, and by attempting to immunise these imperialist agents from resistance against their violent and oppressive actions which serve to sustain imperialism, you betray all of those who looked to you as a figurehead of anti-imperialist resistance after your recent election success, while confirming the fears of those who denounced you as a careerist and/or a friend of despots. Furthermore, by saying that those who are trying to actually shut down Bush and Blair's summit are really helping them, you are slipping into the worst kind of Orwellian doublespeak.

We call on you to immediately affirm the right of protesters against capitalism and imperialism to defend themselves against police aggression and violence and to take action against the apparatus of repression. We call on you to renounce the comments which you made on Channel 4 News and to publicly denounce the police violence which accompanied the summit.
