The purpose of healthcare is to prevent and alleviate human suffering.
Children dying of leukemia, mothers giving birth, men with prostrate cancer, and people with AIDS, should never be seen as a potential source of profit.
To make a profit from suffering is an inherently immoral practice.
Doctors, nurses, hospitals, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and drug companies should be rewarded for their contribution to society, but the sanctity of human life should never be undermined through financial and material gain at the cost of human suffering.
No person, corporation, or nation, should be allowed to profit, financially or otherwise, from the suffering of another human being, even when working to relieve that suffering.
We, the undersigned, call for an immediate ban on the making of profit from providing healthcare, including hospitals, insurance companies, and drug companies.
