Petition on School Calendar

I oppose the legislative action which will change the school calendar start date to after Labor Day.

The development of a school calendar must remain a local decision. The calendar must reflect the needs and desires of local employees, parents, and communities--not be mandated by law.

I encourage members of the legislature to defeat this issue.

Instead, Austin policymakers should focus their influence on enhancing school finance formulas and providing the much needed new dollars for educating our students of Texas.
