In the 2006 Doctor Who episode 'Fear Her', the Doctor (portrayed at the time by David Tennant) carries the Olympic Torch and lights the Olympic Cauldron - marking the opening of the London 2012 Olympics.
We, the undersigned, ask that David Tennant is allowed the honour to light the Olympic Cauldron and the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
Doctor Who has become a national institution, and is one of the most widely recognised television shows in the world, and was recently announced as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world, and the most successful science fiction series of all time.
To have the David Tennant open the 2012 Summer Olympic Games as the Doctor would be a true celebration of Britain and British culture, and celebrate one of our most popular global exports.
