NSW Government enacted Fishing Laws (Fc3138, F99/233, March 2002) have sacrificed the Camden Haven lakes, estuary and wetlands to intense netting and trawling activity by many Commercial Fishers displaced from the surrounding estuaries of the Manning, Hastings and Macleay River systems, which have been protected against the impact of Commercial Fishing.
The concentrated Commercial Fishing activity within the Camden Haven lakes, estuary and wetlands is causing significant ecological disturbance, thereby placing wildlife habitats under further threat.
We, the undersigned, petition the NSW Government to recover and preserve ecological values of the lakes, rivers and estuaries contained within the Camden Haven, NSW, Australia by:
(1) immediately banning the setting of and trawling of nets by means of Commercial Fishing within the lakes, rivers and estuaries of the Camden Haven NSW ad infinitum;
(2) withdrawing relevant Commercial Fishing Licences and compensating holders thereof;
(3) enacting laws which enable the lakes, rivers and estuaries of the Camden Haven NSW to recover to a healthy environment, preserved for future generations.
