We, the undersigned, petition the City of Atlanta to prevent changes to NC zoning to accommodate additional drive thru restaurants in East Atlanta.
In 2001, neighbors and business owners in East Atlanta partnered with the City of Atlanta to rezone the entire East Atlanta Village to be more neighborhood friendly and less freeway oriented. This zoning category, called Neighborhood Commercial, prohibits things like adult businesses, big box stores and drive thru windows. Now in 2004, Happy Donuts is trying to re-write the zoning to allow new drive-thru windows in the north end of the business district. The undersigned are opposed to any zoning changes that will make the East Atlanta Village less pedestrian friendly.

It is dangerous to walk through the Happy Donuts parking lot and drive-thru as it is configured now. They can continue to have a thriving business without the drive-thru.
