PROTECT CALIFORNIA CHILDREN FROM SEX OFFENDERS BY PERMITTING INTERNET ACCESS

In California sexual predators, rapists and child molesters receive more privacy and protection than those they victimize.
Many states offer internet access containing the names, addreses and photographs of convicted sex offenders which are available to the general public. These databases can be accessed by anyone who wishes to find out if someone has committed sexual crimes against children.
California DOES NOT have such a database available to the public. A "900" number is available which charges the caller $10.00 to inquire about a potential registrant. Police departments have a "Megan's Law" CD available for the public to access. To view the CD, one must fill out a form containing their own personal information and must submit identification prior to viewing the CD.
Often computers are broken, police department staff don't have the time or knowledge to address problems, leaving the public at risk.
We need to have full online access to information regarding all registered sex offenders living in the state of California so that we may protect ourselves and our children from these predators
