Quebec Education System

The education system fails to produce proactive, involved, life-smart young adults. Teenagers graduate high school with little to no knowledge about what life demands of them. How are they expected to be responsible and successful adults when they have not learned about doing taxes, budgeting, their rights and rights in the work place or even how to get involved in society. Students need to learn more relevant life skills throughout their education.

I graduated high school with zero preparation for what was to come. My taxes were piling up for years, I was pushed around in my work place, I couldn`t control my finances and the dept was just piling up too. I was not prepared at all. This led to being overwhelmed, high anxiety and stress levels, depression and my eventually fell apart. Our schools need to teach more about life and what people need to do to be in control of their lives.

Schools should have more classes relevant to what life will demand of them. Schools need to teach the skills required to live in our society. School is meant to prepare us for the future but right now it doesn`t. There should be classes throughout high school to prepare teens. Grades 10 and 11 should be more focused on how to live a successful life, teaching relevant skills and preparing teens to become strong, responsible adults.
