However before work on the album was abandoned promotional copies were created and sent out. They received excellent reviews from journalists before finding their way into the bootleg market.
These original promotional copies now sell for hundreds of dollars and even a homemade copy can sell on eBay for close to a hundred dollars, occasionally more. (One recent copy, openly sold as a homemade version went for $175.)
In addition the album has continued to receive rave reviews from fans, turning it into something of a cult classic and any mention of the album is typically followed by strong recommendations that anyone who has yet to hear it seek out a copy.
In spite of this it is understandable that releasing the album in 1999, widely considered to be the low point of Guns N Roses popularity, would not have generated much profit for Geffen.
However it is my belief, and that of the others who have taken the time to sign this petition, that now, with the continuing success of Velvet Revolver and recent renewed interest in Guns N Roses, releasing this album would be met with considerable interest which would justify the financial cost of opening this excellent body of work to the public.
