Release the Alan Smithee Version of Dune

The "Alan Smithee" version appeals to us because it has scenes that were deleted from the original theatrical release and shows the film in a new light -- the "Director's Cut" version, as it were, of the movie, as we are aware that Mr Lynch was not allowed supervision of the final version of the cut prior to release in 1984. This version includes animation and is closer to the original spirit of Frank Herbert's novel because, among other things, it showed a better example of Herbert's subtle sense of humor. Mel Brooks's 1970 movie "The Twelve Chairs" had to wait until 1996 before it was finally released on VHS and DVD. Brooks fans everywhere breathed a sigh of relief when that happened. We fans of the 1984 "Dune" would like the same thing to happen. We've been waiting too many years, in our opinion.
