To: The Honorable Barack Obama, President of the United States; Arne Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education; and Anthony Wilder Miller, Deputy Secretary of Education,

We, the undersigned voters of the United States of America (We, Us, Our), for and on behalf of its Citizens and their children (the Citizens), each certify that we do hereby join in a Petition for the removal of Mr. Kevin Jennings from the position of Assistant Deputy Secretary for Safe and Drug-Free Schools, also known as the Safe Schools Czar, by and through Our rights under the Constitution, specifically the First Amendment, particularly: to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. for the reasons laid out below:

Mr. Jennings was nominated to the position in which he serves by President Barack Obama, to carry out the duties of Deputy Secretary of the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, which are listed below (as quoted from the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools website, located at: http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/osdfs/index.html?exp=0)

The Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools (OSDFS) administers, coordinates, and recommends policy for improving quality and excellence of programs and activities that are designed to:
Provide financial assistance for drug and violence prevention activities and activities that promote the health and well being of students in elementary and secondary schools, and institutions of higher education. Activities may be carried out by State and local educational agencies and by other public and private nonprofit organizations.
Participate in the formulation and development of ED program policy and legislative proposals and in overall Administration policies related to violence and drug prevention; drafting program regulations.
Participate in interagency committees, groups, and partnerships related to drug and violence prevention, coordinating with other Federal agencies on issues related to comprehensive school health, and advising the Secretary on the formulation of comprehensive school health education policy.
Participate with other Federal agencies in the development of a national research agenda for drug and violence prevention.
Administer the Department's programs relating to character and civics education.

To date, Mr. Jennings has been the center of controversy over a reading list that is maintained by the organization he founded, Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN). GLSEN purports that the reading list is intended to reduce bullying and increase tolerance and awareness amongst the classmates of lesbian, gay, and bisexual students, which by reducing bullying fits in with his duties as Deputy Secretary for Safe and Drug-Free Schools. However as many Citizens have found out since his nomination, that this purpose is quite obscured when actually looking at the content of the books on the list amongst other things. It has become obvious to the Undersigned that Mr. Jennings and his organization have a much larger objective here promoting and in some respects, forcing the homosexual agenda on our young children. Many of the books, aimed at young children, contain sexually explicit descriptions of homosexual acts performed by children (as young as six years of age) on each other, and in some cases on adults. One title, Reflections of a Rock Lobster, is aimed at the middle-school age group, and is quoted in part as follows:
My sexual exploits with my neighborhood playmates continued. I lived a busy homosexual childhood, somehow managing to avoid venereal disease through all my toddler years. By first grade I was sexually active with many friends. In fact, a small group of us regularly met in the grammar school lavatory to perform fellatio on one another. A typical weeks schedule would be Aaron and Michael on Monday during lunch; Michael and Johnny on Tuesday after school; Fred and Timmy at noon Wednesday; Aaron and Timmy after school on Thursday. None of us ever got caught, but we never worried about it anyway. We all understood that what we were doing was not to be discussed freely with adults but we viewed it as a fun sort of confidential activity. None of us had any guilty feelings about it; we figured everyone did it. Why shouldnt they?
In the book entitled "Revolutionary Voices" an illustration is included that shows two Boy Scouts seeing and pointing at two grown men engaged in sex.

A quote from Queer 13: "Soon I was spending a great deal of time hanging out in shopping malls and cruising the rest rooms for sexual encounters."

We, the Citizens, understand teaching that teaching tolerance of others can be useful in the prevention of some school violence. However, Mr. Jennings, through his organization, seems to be pushing schools to go way beyond the scope of their jobs as educators.

The decision of whether or not or how children are taught about homosexuality as good, bad, immoral, or otherwise has always been and should always remain with the parents based on their personal or religious views, and not with government officials. Things of a sexually explicit nature have no place being in or being promoted in a childs school at all.

THEREFORE, we, the voters of the United States of America, on behalf of its Citizens and their children, are petitioning for the resignation or removal of Kevin Jennings from the position as Deputy Secretary for Safe and Drug-Free Schools, an arm of the Department of Education.
