Remove Robust Debate Group

Multiply is a social networking site that allows users to share information such as videos, photos and blogs. It is not a place, however, where hate should be allowed to fester unchecked.

Multiply prohibits content "that is patently offensive to the online community, such as content that promotes racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual; or harasses or advocates harassment of another person."

Yet this is exactly the kind of content that has been explicitly and continuously posted in Robust Debate, a Group hosted on the Multiply site and in direct violation of Multiply's terms of service (TOS).

On countless occasions members of Robust Debate, who are bound by Multiply's TOS, have explicitly used racial epithets with the express purpose to degrade, offend and intimidate African American members of the group.

Members of Robust Debate have now established a rule, in express violation of Multiply's TOS, that allows racial epithets to be used on so-called "Anarchy" posts.

We, the undersigned, not only believe that Robust Debate should be held accountable for its past actions but also its recent decision to actively provide a space for hate language. This decision has already led to escalated harassment of members, which only promises to worsen.

We, the undersigned, believe actions exhibited by Robust Debate and its members fly in the face of Multiply's TOS. Further, we, the undersigned believe, Robust Debate and other spin-off groups have become so offensive as to inhibit ALL members from using and enjoying Multiplys diverse communities as described in the web sites TOS.

We, the undersigned, believe that unless the Robust Debate Group complies with Multiply's TOS, Multiply should shut down the Robust Debate Group along with any other groups that allow, protect, and encourage hate speech that exposes others to unfettered harassment.
