ROBOCOP 2: THE FRANK MILLER SPECIAL EDITION

Frank Miller (the writer/illustrator of such notable comics and graphic novels like ЁSin CityЁ, ЁElektra Lives AgainЁ, ЁThe Dark Knight ReturnsЁ) was originally hired to write the screenplay for ЁRobocop 2Ё, and he DID submit a draft to the now-defunct studio of Orion Pictures; but the studio heads had other ideas about how the film should work, and even though they loved Millers material they deemed it unfilmable, effectively leading to drastic changes and constant rewrites of Millers original script, leaving the screenwriter QUITE disheartened.

However, scenes WERE shot from the initial script by director Irvin Kershner before all the changes were made, but those changes constituted leaving the Miller-scripted scenes on the cutting-room floor, never to be used for the final cut that evenually reached theaters. As a result, many critics disliked the film, and the main cast was disappointed that the final film did not represent the script that they had originally agreed to sign on to.

Therefore, I am calling for ALL the original footage shot from Millers screenplay to be revitalized and reinstated into a new ЁFRANK MILLER Special EditionЁ version of ЁRobocop 2Ё. Then, all the critics that disparaged the film and also hard-core Miller-philes would have the chance to appreciate the film in a new light, through meatier character moments, cleaning up of any plot holes, and never-before-seen subplots.

So, whichever studio that now controls the rights to ЁRobocop 2Ё: please, please, PLEASE make this dream come true, for it would make a world of difference to those who already love ЁRobocop 2Ё (including me), those who adore Frank Miller, those who could use a second chance in better appreciating this film, and, most importantly, to Frank Miller himself, who deserves such revisited glory.
