Save Our Port Hope Police - Petition

The following citizens of Port Hope are in favour of maintaining our long serving town police agency, the Town of Port Hope Police and expanding its reach to all of Hope Township, Ward 2 of Port Hope. The following Port Hope Citizens prefer this method of police service delivery: 1. Because the following citizens of Port Hope believe that continuing and expanding the Town of Port Hope service delivery is in the best interest of the Town in order for the Town of Port Hope to continue to have direct control over how the money the police collect is spent; 2. Because the following citizens of Port Hope believe that where a service is being paid for through the collection of municipal property taxes, that these services need to remain under the jurisdiction of the municipality and not the province. 3. And finally, because it has been determined that a tax savings of $1.67 million over 10 years can be achieved by having one Town of Port Hope Police Service for both Ward 1 and Ward 2.
