We the undersigned declare our united opposition to the Scottish Executives recent proposals for an outright ban on the sale of swords in Scotland and the carrying of swords in public places.

We believe that the Scottish Executive should give proper consideration to the important historical, cultural, artistic, sporting, economic and religious aspects of legitimate law-abiding sword ownership, use and transportation.
