Many of you will have heard the sad news of the shock closure of the Dundee Megabowl on Tuesday. Aswell as being one of the main attractions in the city, the council stood by and did nothing as over 20 employees lost their jobs with one days notice.
It's scandalous and shameful the way Dundee City Council has let one of the main leisure facilities in Dundee go down the tubes, when it could easily have been saved with a little investment in the Stack Leisure Park. More needs to be done...what have kids got to do now in the city in terms of staying active? The odd trip to the ice arena?
And the effect this closure will have on the already struggling Lochee community will be felt for many years to come.
It's not only the youth of today who have been adversely affected by this. Many of the users of the Megabowl who play competitive bowling will have to now travel to Dunfermline for the nearest bowling facilities.
So let's get as many signatures as possible and make the council sit up and take notice that this sort of thing will not be tolerated by the residents of Dundee, and show that more can be done to save the Dundee Megabowl.
