Say NO to the imoprting of apples to Australia!

The effect upon the Australian Apple Industry will be servely compromised by the import of inferior quality apples, with the potenial to carry yet another disease - Fire Blight! Fire Blight is a bacterial disease that is currently not in Australia due to strict quarantine and Indusrtry Standard. There is currently no single efective treatment, and seriously effects apples, pears, quinces and rose bushes. World wide the presence of fire blight and its effects can be found in North America, UK, Europe, Middle East and NEW ZEALAND! The introduction of imported apples will have ongoing and detrimental effects on the Apple industry in Australia. Growers and Orchards, their employeees, the communitiesand small business that surround them, the families, the children are all under threat! SAY NO! As a mother of three, in a small town in the Adelaide Hills my family and I are directly impacted by the incresed importation of what is already in high quantities and quality. If the importation of apples continues I will lose my job. It is time to stop looking at the cheap option as a quick fix and think about the long term consequences of importing. BUY LOCAL FROM A LOCAL- EMPLOYING A LOCAL- WHO BUYS LOCAL! It's not just the Apple Industry that will suffer.
