We, the undersigned, demand that the proposal to put up a mobile phone mast on ground very near to Forthill Primary School is withdrawn.
The mobile phone company (Vodaphone/O2) put forward a planning application in January 2011 to build a 3G mast in the grounds of Forthill Sports Club, immediately adjacent to Forthill Primary School. Dundee City Council's Planning Committe unanimously rejected the application at its meeting in March, based on visual appearance and insensitive location.
The company has appealed against the decision saying that it has made efforts to find the best site. The appeal is to Scottish Government.
This petition is to clearly state to the company, Forthill Sports Club and Scottish Government that the location of a 3G mobile phone mast so close to a primary school goes against the 'precautionary principle' relating to the possible health and wellbeing impacts on children and staff. There are other suitable sites available.
PLEASE add your name to the petition NOW. Responses to the appeal close on Friday 8th July. Thank you.
