Security Council Reform

We, the undersigned, petition the United Nations General Assembly and its Security Council to reform the organization of said Security Council, whereas the permanent positions and veto power are serving to marginalize smaller nations.
We insist that the member of the Security Council consider the welfare of the whole international community and abolish permanent member positions and the single-member veto power they possess.
We propose instead that all Security Council members be elected by the General Assembly for a period of two years. We insist that all members of the Security Council be temporary and equal, with resolutions passing or failing only through the majority rule.
We believe that a more egalitarian Security Council will more effectively represent all the people of the world, allowing representation on the Council to adapt to changing world circumstances. We believe that allowing all nations to participate in world government on an equal footing will encourage international cooperation and respect for the United Nations.
Whereas the current organization of the Security Council is oligarchic and does not reflect modern world politics, we the undersigned insist that its structure be redesigned, taking these guidelines into consideration, for a more effective United Nations.
