Dear Honorable Prime Minister/President of Republic of India,
As a citizen of the Republic of India, I urge the Government of India to pass legislation (Jan Lokpal Bill) and to come forward with mechanisms to fight corruption in the country .
High-level corruption by Politicians and government officials robs the country of billions of dollars each year. This money should be spent on providing a better standard of life for countries impoverished citizens. State looting in resource-rich developing countries can reportedly equal national debt, with funds often siphoned off into overseas bank accounts, frequently in Europe and Swiss banks. Those who steal state money, spend it on elections and enjoy a luxurious lifestyle. This must stop. More than a mere economic crime, high-level corruption undermines the ability of certain states to provide basic services to their people, including the right to food, housing, health and education.
India is engulfed with unprecedented scams under your leadership. The list goes huge; 2G spectrum scam, CWG scam, Land scam, Food scam, Stamp scam, Satyam scam, IPL scam and the list continues.
This letter is in support to veteran Gandhian Anna Hazare's cause.
