We, the undersigned, call into question the assessment boycott currently being undertaken by AUT members at the University of Manchester as a part of their 'action short of a strike' policy. We in no way call into question the lecturers right to a pay rise or furthermore, their right to demand one. We do believe, however, that the assessment boycott is having a detrimental effect to students' education and to the careers of those who are due to graduate this year. We feel the burden of this boycott is falling more on the students rather than the employers it was meant to target. We request that the assessment boycott be called to an end immediately in the name of fairness and respect to the students.
