We, the parents, teachers, students, school staff, neighbors are concerned citizens of Houston,
Texas, and concern citizens of education petition the Texas Education Agency (TEA), not to close North Forest Independent School District. We do not believe that closing NFISD will be beneficial to our students, nor our community.
NFISD is rated Academically Unacceptable solely due to its high school completion rate, not academic performance.
North Forest high School is the recipient of a 3 year $5,000,000.00 Texas Title I Priority Schools Grant intended to accelerate expeditious academic transformation. The supplemental grant funds are set to expire in 2012-2013. The school is already in the process of implementing drastic reform
NFISD has been under partial or complete TEA governance for the past four years.
