Stop the Closure of York Road Delivery Office

The York Road Delivery Office has served the local community in the East Leeds, LS9 postcode for many years. However Royal Mail has announced plans to close York Road by February 2012 and move operations to Seacroft.
York Road has achieved high quality of service targets, and provides an important service to the community. However Royal Mail has imposed the closure, without consulting with the workforce, CWU union or the community and its elected councillors or MPs.
The result will be a much worse service for local people, with a long, costly trip to Seacroft several miles away to access services and collect parcels. For many the trip will be impossible.
We believe York Road should stay open in the interests of members and the public service it provides the local community.
