Support the Media Center

The College of William and Mary, for most of its history, has been dedicated to the pursuit of a progressive liberal arts education. We study with the understanding that nothing we do is extracurricular, but a part of the education that we take with us around the world. The Media Center was established by Dean Connie McCarthy in the basement of Swem Library for the purpose of bringing media literacy to an already excellent education. The Media Center is tasked with supporting students and faculty in the planning, creation, and presentation of media projects that expand opportunities at the College.





The Media Center is in its third year of service to the William and Mary community. It has survived thus far solely on private donations. While these donations are much appreciated they are not the stable source of funding needed for the successful flourishing of this campus institution. A constant source of funding from the College must be provided for the Media Center to become a permanent fixture; it has already proven its effectiveness and capabilities.





The signatories to this petition implore the administration of the College of William and Mary to recognize the Swem Media Center's role on campus as not an option but a necessity. To that end, it is requested that a pledge is made to find a source of permanent funding for the Media Center.
