Tameside Welfare Rights Unit NEEDS YOU

Tameside Welfare Rights Unit (the UNIT) a voluntary non-profit making organisation is due to close in eight weeks, because the Local Authority has decided that they are no longer willing to support the Unit. The Unit established over twenty years ago has been actively helping the residents of Tameside with a variety of problems including Employment, Debt and Welfare Benefits. Last year the Unit recovered almost half a million pounds on behalf of the residents of Tameside. If the Unit is closed at the end of March, where will you go if you or someone in you family has a problem? Who will you turn to, if your house is about to be repossessed, do you know about, and are you receiving all the benefits you are entitled to? What if you are experiencing discrimination at work, or have lost your job through no fault of your own.
