The Community of Youtube will not be Insulted

I, as a person of high standards and pride, think that Stephen Johnson is an asshole. The normal viewer might say "well who is this stephen johnson?". Stephen Johnson is a writer for G4, and created an article in which he bashed the community and questioned the intelligence of youtubers everywhere.

The article above, written by him, is an example of how he believes that the youtube community is just a bunch of ignorant good for nothing losers with cameras.

Here is an excerpt from his rant:

"It's hard for a YouTube video to be a failure. The bar is really low: Throw a funny wig on yourself and speed up the audio, and the youtube masses will think you're a comedy genius. Rant about the connection between George W. Bush and the outer-space lizard conspiracy and you'll be hailed as a political commentator of the highest order.

But some youtube videos are worse than bad. They manage to transcend the poor lighting, non-existent editing, self-aggrandizement and tedium of the standard youtube offering to become epic fails. Below, please find our choices for Epic Fail: Youtube Videos."


If you are a youtuber, like myself, you know that you have felt insulted by these comments. Youtube is not just a place to see videos of Chris Crocker or dogs riding skateboards, but it's a community. It's bigger then this guy and it is bigger than all of us. The remarks he made about youtubers is without merit and just as ill-informed as he says a popular youtuber "sXephil" is. He has insulted the whole community and I think that we should rally together as one and show him that we will not stand for this, and we are not petty scum that he believes we are.

The great thing about Youtube is that, anyone can join. People can voice who they are, or broadcast who they want to be. It doesn't matter where you are from, what you look like, or what your opinion is, everyone has a say and everyone can be apart of the bigger picture. If we let people take us down like this, then what are we really? Just a bunch of clips on the internet, or a community? Stand up for what you believe in, stand up for your fellow Youtubers. Honor thy neighbor, and strengthen the bond between the phenomenon that everyone knows us as today.
