TO The Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario

Whereas as the YWCA Sudbury has the power and resources to accommodate transsexual women leaving abusive partners. Whereas, the YWCA Sudbury refuses to adopt the same policy that the YWCA Ottawa, Toronto and Kitchener has in place. Whereas, the YWCA Toronto policy is to accommodate a transsexual women and allows for SEPARATED safe space in case a trans women does come to the YWCA Toronto (like a separate bed room). This will be more comforting for all parties then just rejecting victims. Whereas, the YWCA Sudbury will refuse to accommodate a transsexual into the physical shelter but will try and provide the client with paid hotel for the night, if available at time of need. Whereas, the YWCA Sudbury policy does not always work and people wronged by this policy are left feeling hopeless and most have no where to turn to for safety; we the undersigned petition the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal to require the YWCA Sudbury to adopt the same policy the YWCA Toronto has in its place and to conduct on going sensitivity training.
