To petition Lincolnshire County Council to introduce traffic calming measures (not road humps) along Silver Street to protect our children travelling to and from Primary School and playing along the street.
Proposal 1: make Silver Street one way from South to North (Hornacastle Road to Louth Road) to prevent the speed traffic coming off the Louth Road and using SIlver Street as a cut-through. In addition, it would enforce the "no-right-turn" at the end of Silver Street onto the Horncastle Road / Church Street which is frequently and dangerously ignored. This would also reduce the traffic chaos during the 'school-run' with vehicles parking and driving in both directions.
Proposal 2: introduce 'chicanes' at either end of the road to slow down the traffic entering the road. (To cater for the farm traffic which uses Silver Street, it would not be suitable to use width restrictions.) However, evidence has shown that chicanes provide a challenge rather than a deterent to some speeding drivers.
Proposal 3: a 20mph speed limit around the School entrance with clear signage and enforcement to protect the Children travelling to and from School.
