For many years Wat Thai of Los Angeles has been the center of the Thai community within our area. Theyve provided community outreach programs focused on education, health care, information on immigration rights and spiritual counseling to all that was in need.
Wat Thai provides many opportunities for Thai-American children not available elsewhere and exposes Thai culture and Buddhism to people of other nationalities. From its beginning, Wat Thai has been proactive in the community and has never hesitated to help its neighbors in any way. Over the years, it has transformed into a community and a center of attraction for people of all backgrounds, not just Thai-Americans.
Now the city has shut down the main attraction of the templethe food vendors. As a result, Wat Thai will lose a lot of funding for its community outreach programs.
Please sign this petition to let Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Councilwoman Wendy Greuel know that Wat Thai is very much appreciated and needed in both the Thai Community and the Los Angeles County.
