Wayne National Forest Year-round Horse Trail Riding

We the undersigned request that the Wayne National Forest open equestrian trails year round, beginning April 1-March 31.
For the following reasons: The current riding season is April 15- December 15, which limits and reduces optimal equestrian riding time. This 8-month timeframe coincides with seasonal inclement weather (heavy rain, thunderstorms, and extreme hot/cold temperatures), parasite outbreaks, and hunting season. (hunting season alone accounts for 6 weeks of the riding season) The current shortened season also limits locals seeking equestrian recreation in winter months.

Some of the best riding is in the winter months, No one would want to ride if it was muddy and cold anyway. Most people would only ride when we get a pretty day above 50 degrees.
