sankofa: that advertisement with the mother and child asking for $50.00 increase is offensive and racist. I call for it to be retracted and those responsible, apologise especially to the African Community!!!
sankofa: the parent/s who allowed their child to do that add is irresponsible. I call for its removal asap!!! Children in any country should not be used to do adults’ biddings. Based on the International rights of the child designers of this politically motivated advertisement is erroneous.
Sankofa: On the point of the advertisement being racist; think of the stereotypes of Africans, i.e. ungovernable homes, perception of lavantelle, gang legislation, etc. People wake up and think. When last you see positive images of Africans, say as a doctor, in stable home in comedies, etc. The images presented all the time on a larger scale is delinquent, unstable, un-united, poor, fighting, killing, etc.
and I might add, we are too gullible and apologetic, even when we are sociologically attacked and demeaned in overt and covert ways we seldom know what hit us
Why this government could find uneducated Indian persons for high positions and contract jobs but could not find an Indian to do their dirty add? Give me a break!!!
I Michael Francis Grandison aka Sankofa call for media house to stop running the advertisement and for the Government of The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to apologise for the gross offense in this regard.
