We, the undersigned petitioners and iPhone users would like to take the opportunity to thank you for coming up with such a innovative device that has revolutionized the way phone is used. While iPhone has tremendous new features and ease of use we believe it lacks one very important data security issue. There is no way for iPhone owner to lock the email application on the phone. Almost all of iPhone users have setup their personal and business email accounts with lot of sensitive data which can be compromised in case phone is lost.
We would urge Apple, Inc to consider providing this feature as a software update through iTunes as soon as possible. Having this feature will not only make iPhone more popular but will also provide peace of mind for the user that data is safe.
We think providing something like a 4 digit lock on email application that will lock itself if wrong code is entered more than 3 times. The only way to get around is to setup the email account again so, there is no data loss of any kind. If this is not possible we would like to atleast have a way where email password is not stored and the user has to enter every time before reading email.
