This petition has been created to show support for regulating the number of bass fishing tournanents on the Big Rideau Lake.
Currently there is one scheduled almost every weekend from Father's Day until Thanksgiving and the lake residents of the Big Rideau Lake feel there needs to be some balance and regulation for these sporting events.
Parks Canada is responsible for regulating businesses who operate on their waterways and issuing permits. These tournaments generate thousands of dollars each week without any permit controls.
The main issues include:
- Frequency of tournaments
- Start times
- Noise (dp levels)
- Speed at which they travel across the lake
