Many municipalities throughout North America, including New York City, allows for the raising of laying hens as pets. The City of Ottawa, however does not. 2-3 laying hens will provide healthy and organic eggs for a family of 4, as most hens will lay an egg every 25 hours. In addition they are great pest control, eating slugs and grubs and other irritating lawn and garden insects. Lets petition The City of Ottawa to re-right the current by-law prohibiting the keeping of laying hens within city limits.
