There were numerous unhealthy conditions including asbestos, lead and, molds.
It took the family a month and a half to get a response from the City of Waterbury Connecticut's Health Department, and 2 more weeks to have an inspector come out to document the conditions.
Inspite of the rules and regulations the City Of Waterbury's Health Department is under obligation to, they refused to test for any asbestos lead or molds.
The family had to hire an outside agency to do so.
The employees of the City Health Department were rude, inconsiderate and refused to help on the smallest level..telling the family they should "look at it from the owners' perspective".
Clearly siding with the owners.
As a result the family lost numerous personal items as well as suffering great financial loss.
Given that there is so much "talk" of "saving" the environment and preventing lead paint exposure on all levels of City and State agencies and politicians, we the undersigned petition the State of Connecticut Commisionor of Public Health to look into and rectify the lack of cooperation and failure to abide by Ct Statutes and Laws as evidenced by the City of Waterburys Health Department.
Asbestos is kiling people,,,lead is permantly damaging children,,but when asked to test for these and furthermore force the criminal home owners to abate them, the Waterbury Health Departement refused.
Violating the rights of the tenants as well as anyone else who may reside there or have resided there.
