With the recent release of Marvel Comics "Ultimate" line, newcomers to comic books are shown "some" of the beginings to the greatest superheroes of our time. But why, I ask, did Marvel change the origins of some of these heroes? That is not my concern. What I am here to promote today is for the comic book industry as a whole to try to go a small step out of their way and try to make books showing the origins of our favorite heroes and villains. Marvel was close but lacked in their execution. Showing what the heroes would be like in our world was one step, but in doing so they terrorized the backstories of countless characters. I don't want anyone to change history, no. I just want young and new fans in general to see comics in a new light, in a way that they can begin to read and completely understand what we have known for many years. For example, Marvel's "Ultimate Spider-Man" did something fantastic, bringing Spidey into the modern world. But changing his powers and destorying some of the great plot elements that made him who he is, that is not great. As a positive example, what if Batman's life had taken place in today's era? What if Bruce Wayne had grown up in our harsh reality as opposed to his? Many great things could be achieved and I think all fans will agree. So I ask you in the industry today, if not to actually do so, to just "consider". Consider the monumental impact it would have on us and new fans alike. Thank you for your time and please, don't just cast this to the side.
