Daimler-Chrysler should abandon independent suspensions in vehicles

We the owners and supporters of Jeep vehicles do hereby announce intent to end the use of independent suspensions in our beloved Jeep (R) brand. It is our belief that if we wish to purchase a new jeep in coming years, we should be able to find one with factory installed live axles. We find the installation of independent suspension in a Jeep(R) vehicle to be innapropriate and one that weakens the mission of what Jeep (R) has used to market vehicles in past years.

We believe that by using a less "rugged" suspension, Daimler-Chrysler has placed the Jeep (R) line at great risk, because it now would be in direct competition with vehicles that cost less, and are generally more attractive than the Jeep units at that level.

We are owners and admirers of Jeeps legendary prowess, which we believe will only remain intact if the solid axle configuration is retained in the Jeep vehicles. For demonstration of the two suspensions at work in the same condition, go here:

We also wish to inform Daimler-Chrysler that we understand that new innovations are required to retain a presence in the automotive marketplace, but do not wish to trade the ability to travel anywhere that Jeep (R) vehicles are known best for. We can only advise that all of these innovations not involve the axle configuration of the vehicles.

We also resent having half of the true story of the Liberty offering told to us. We are aware that there was plenty of rockstacking going on in the Rubicon that day. We are aware that it was necessary to do this in order to usher the independent front suspension on the vehicle over the obstacles.
To tell us otherwise was in bad faith.
