DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE PROPOSED 399 SPU (448 Pig) PIGGERY AT 71 LITTLE ROAD, GLASTONBURY As a rate payer to Gympie Regional Council, you have a right to voice any concerns you have about this proposal. Your property may be close to the proposed piggery site, and may be adversely impacted as a result. Your property may not be close to the piggery, but the odour will travel over great distances, especially on summer breezes. Just those times when one might open the window to cool the house down. Maybe for you, opening your windows on those balmy summer evenings will be a thing of the past. On a serious note, your main concerns as community members are likely things like odour, dust, noise, amenity (visual impact), traffic, airborne pathogens from effluent (disease), property devaluation, potential pollution to Glastonbury creek and the Mary River. You may have additional concerns. Our association has been invited to give a presentation to a council planning meeting. All interested members of the public can attend this meeting in the public gallery. THE COUNCIL MEETING IS ON SEPTEMBER 21ST . The Development Application to council falls short in 9 areas whereby it doesn’t meet the Council’s planning scheme. Sadly however, the Council can vote to approve this application despite it not meeting its planning scheme minimum requirements. If that happens, there is no right of appeal to that decision, as this application is “Code Assessable”. Hence it is important to let Gympie Regional Council know if you have concerns. As a Gympie Regional Council ratepayers, if you have concerns or objections, we encourage you to take the time to make a few phone calls to Councillors , send a few emails and / or letters expressing your concerns or objections. If you wish to express your feelings to the council, it is most effective to write to them (includes emails), rather than phoning. You can also sign our paper petitions which we will present to Council on September 21st. These paper petitions will be available throughout various retail outlets through the Gympie CBD. The 2 Councillors that look after planning are 1) Jan Watt Councillor Planning & Development Committee Proxy Chairman Mobile: 0437 733 383 E-mail: crjanwatt@gmail.com 2) Ian Petersen Councillor Planning & Development Committee Chairman Phone: (07) 5482 7273 Mobile: 0400 792 441 Facsimile: (07) 5481 1965 E-mail: crianpetersen@gmail.com For any additional questions you may have, please contact us at gla.rsra@gmail.com or call us at 0402 262 886. We sincerely look forward and appreciate any support you can offer. Regards Head petitioner and spokesperson Glastonbury Residents for Sustainable and Responsible Agriculture. Greg Peck
